Off to Agra and the Taj Mahal

Today the group and I (half of which I have not met yet) are heading to Agra on a train ride... im not sure what to expect with the whole train ride. I've seen plenty of movies and documentaries where the people are literally hanging off the side of the carriage.

Im just hoping the company I am with will splash out and get me a seat.

Agra is the home of the famous Taj Mahal, the most desperate attempt in history by a man to win the affections of a callous woman. It should be interesting.

Yesterday, we spent the day in a cab, riding around Delhi and seeing some of the sights. Every time we stepped out of the cab we were surrounded by hawkers, hawking this, hawking that. They have a special name in India.. cant remember what it is, but it might be "Small Business Owners".. or something similar. (Touts actually)

Auto Rickshaws Galore..

Afterwards, one of the girls and I went for a walk into the local marketplace, it was pretty intense.. the only comparison I could make to it is that it looks like Time Square in New York, except with more people, more noise, dirtier streets and after a large war. It was really cool though, having to dodge various cars, bikes, touts and basically everything else was a good experience and one that should stick with me for the next couple of minutes.

Hey cam - love the pic of you!
I was told when I was there the hawkers actually rent the babies they carry for the day - they just drug them so they dont make any noise... better chance of getting money if you see them holding a baby...

thats the way of the world...

Did you take Shantaram with you? It's a really good book- nice and thick with lots of pages. Perfect for emergencies.
