Amiristar and the Past Couple of Days

Good Day to you all.

Firstly, the comments -

Gerry - That's a great suggestion, but I don't think that night can ever be recreated in any way shape or form. The stars were aligned in the right way... As Bart Simpson would say - "Sorry lady, one show only.." Also, the kids might be slightly peturbed if we get them to perform lesbian action and/or groping..

Anon - Yes, but so are you..

Numbnuts - It's not too long, and I didn't come here to pick up women.. its just in my nature to be attractive - you know how it goes.. haha

Anyway, the last few days have been uneventful in an eventful kinda way. More painting of the classrooms has gone on and we have now finished 2 of them. The play is kinda going along, although we can't really do much because only one of us speaks Hindi.. so I kinda just sit around and laugh at the kids and throw rocks at the cows as they walk passed.

I was in a car accident the other day. The driver of our car was not watching where he was going and drove into the concrete barrier on the side of the road. Thankfully, I am ok, although I have a broken pelvis and my head won't stop ringing.

Im also thankful to the concrete barrier for being there, because if it wasn't then we would have been visiting Gandhi up in the sky. Kinda funny in hindsight. In foresight, i hope it never happens again.

I am currently in Amiristar.. I am almost 100% sure that I am spelling that wrong.. oh well.. I thought we would be staying in a swanky hotel for this part of the trip, but the truth is, our room is only slightly better than our room at the camp. The major plus is that it has a proper toilet (sans toilet paper :( ) and a shower. I am totally stinking up the entire state of Punjab at the moment. We went and watched the Border Closing Ceremony between Pakistan and India. There was a huge crowd of sweaty people there who all pushed and shoved to get a seat to watch it. Im not sure why anyone bothered as everyone ended up standing up anyway. I managed to block about 50 people behind me because I am the size of a dinosaur compared to most of the people here.

The ceremony consisted of the huge Indian guards walking quickly up to the Pakistan/India gate and stamping their feet loudly before lowering the flag (the same was going on on the Pakistani side as well - equipped with rent-a-crowd)The crowd cheered. Cameron sweated. Everyone was delighted. We then walked back to the car and sat on it for about 50 minutes as all the traffic and people walked away from the border. It was like Sydney at New Years. So many people.

The smog is hurting my eyes in this city and I think im going to have a shower. My next interesting destination (apart from the market visits to Palumpur (cant find it.. look it up..)) will be Dharmasala (sp?).. which is the hometown of the Dalai Lama and the exiled Tibetan Government. The Lama's birthday is on Friday so we are going to go on that day and have a few beers with him, get him pissed etc.

Werd.

Your day breaks, your mind aches.. you'll find all her words of kindness linger on when she no longer needs you.
