Amristar - The Golden Temple and Adventures of Jackie Chan

I just got electrocuted by the stupid computer I am on. Fark.

Note to self - dont ever touch anything in this place that is run by electricity ever again.

Anyway, back in base camp in good old cool Himachal Pradesh (near Palampur.. which I hear is the tea capital of Northern India - Thanks babe :P )

There sure is alot of tea here! Fields of it actually... its just like Fearless where Jet Li is planting tea. Tea tea.

Humm, the group and I just got back from hot and sweaty Amristar (correct spelling this time). Today we went to the Golden Temple, which was a pretty good sight. It is the base temple of the Sikh Religion (I kinda explained all this in an earlier post). It is real gold too, and had about an hour line up just to get into the doors. Once inside, there were many people praying and these guys who looked like they belonged in "Kung Fu Hustle" playing instruments. They were wearing aviator sunnies and reminded me of the two dudes who are blind and play those stringed keyboard things... anyways..then there were these two Sikh guys who read these massive books. Jaya kinda explained to me that it was a version of the Sikh holy book.. not sure what it is called exactly.

Got some sweet photos of it all, but I will upload them later (on account that I dont feel like getting electrocuted again).

Walking around in Armistar was interesting as well. Having been out of any big city for about 10 days I had forgotten how instantly annoying it was to be white. Every couple of metres you are hassled by someone trying to sell you something, whether it be a piece of cloth or a piece of coconut.

The most pitiful of the lot is when kids come up to you and you get this very familiar tap (by this point it is familiar anyway) on your arm and a small voice saying "hello.." "hello..." (tap, tap) "hello..." There is nothing you can do but keep walking. It is a bit sad :(

Yaz, did a good deed and bought a little girl a pair of shoes today though.. a good deed should always be recognised.. and hopefully she gets some positive Karma from it.

Also while walking around town I was spotted by some locals. They have obviously seen some of my work in Hollywood. I thought my beard might throw some of the papparazi off my trail, but obviously some people are a little more switched on than I had imagined. The scene was as follows -

Yaz and I walking down the road.. two youngish Indian guys coming the opposite direction..

Me minding my own business.. staring off into space as per usual.

Indian guy - Jackie Chan!!

Me continues walking

Yas - Did they just call you Jackie Chan?

Me - Umm, yeah probably.. I guess I look kinda Asian.

I can think of a few things wrong with someone thinking I look like Jackie Chan

1) I am much better looking than Jackie Chan
2) I can kick Jackie Chan's ass in a fight
3) You get the idea..

Thats all.. im feeling kinda sick.
