Sniff sniff.. tomorrow will mark the end of my trip into Nepal, which is a little sad because I like it here.
The last couple of days I've spent walking and talking for the most part. I walked a few hours yesterday down to the Patan Durbar Square (spelling might or might not be correct..) which is a collection of very to extremely old buddhist buildings and structures. I managed to take about 3 wrong turns on the way there and a maybe 1 hour walk was quickly escalated into something worse..
By the time I got back to my hotel, I had managed to splash mud all over the back of my pants (what else is new) because the streets of Thamal (where I am staying) are something out of a seedy mud wrestling bar.. muddy. Funny. It's like this because its been raining alot.
Gerry took me up to a Monkey Temple that overlooks the city of Kathmandu which was really good, the locals have built a slide for the monkeys to slide down.. unfortunately, when we went there there was a wedding or something on so the monkeys had evacuated the area. Afterwards, Gerry and a few of his friends went to his apartment at night, got some "Take-Away" (getting this was a bit of an ordeal as the locals call it something else.. the name escapes me at the moment, but its not Take-Away or Take-Out or "Not eating here" as I think Gerry may have tried at one stage..) momo's, buffalo, vegetable and chicken and drank some vodka and had a snickers bar. The buffalo momo was the first non chicken meat I have had in about 6 weeks... its probably not so bad being a vegatarian, but I still think that our bodies are supposed to eat meat, hence us being able to kill all other animals. Go humans.
This morning I got up early to go see the Himalayas. I was told before I attempted this that I had maybe a 1 in 10 chance at best to see them, but I figured since I was in the neighbourhood I should give it a shot. Unfortunately, Mother Nature conspired against me and clouded up the entire view.. It was still nice, but I guess I will have to come back another time and climb them instead. (anyone got some bionic arms I can have?)
Tomorrow, I am getting a bus back to the border, followed by a 3 hour car ride to Gorakphur in India, followed by a 12-14 hour train ride back to Delhi. Should be fun.
I will then have one night in Delhi, then fly to Singapore and stay there a few days and come back to where the winners live (when I get there they do at least..)
Looking forward to seeing everyone (unless you live out of the country... in which case, tough luck)
