Robert Jordan is Dead

Robert Jordan - I'll keep writing until they nail shut my coffin..

One of my favourite authors died on the 16th of September due to a rare blood disease.

His popular series, "The Wheel of Time" has been around for years, and I jumped on the bandwagon at about the 3rd book.

I still remember the time a friend of mine - Michael Dawes told me about the Dragon and the premise of the story..we were at Liverpool station, waiting for the next train home

"Its about this guy named the Dragon.."

Is he a dragon?"

Well..no, but its.."

Why do they call him the dragon if hes not a dragon?"

Shut up idiot.."

I gave Michael Dawes shit at that time when he was trying to tell me about this great story he had started reading, but back then I was (and still am) a fantasy buff and it wasn't long before I bought the first book and started reading it.

I took it away on holidays with me, up the coast.. beautiful seaside caravan park. Plenty of Sun, plenty of sand.. I didn't noticed.. I spent a majority of the time with my face stuck in the first book called "The Eye of the World". I couldn't put it down.

I finished that 1000 page monster in a few days, got the next.. and the next.. and the next.. then after I had bought the 5th book, I had to start waiting for each subsequent book to be released.. it usually took a year or so before they came out, but it was a great day when it finally happened.. and I was usually one of those who pre-ordered.. even if it cost me $20 extra.

Fast forward to now...

Robert Jordan in dead. In the middle of writing the 12th and final book of the wheel of time saga.

I know that the publishers will do whatever they can to placate the fans and to finish off the series, his wife and other family members have been given the plot details by Robert Jordan himself so that this will happen.

But I think it is a tradegy that someone like this, who did so much for the fans, who LOVED what he did and the world and story he created is not there to witness the fruits of his life's work.

I am sad that I will never get to read another word written by Robert Jordan himself, as he has always been an inspiration to me as a story creator.

RIP Robert Jordan. RIP James Oliver Rigney Jr.
